Adult Orthodontics
Orthodontic problems of dental aetiology (similar to child orthodontics)
All orthodontic problems of dental aetiology can be corrected in adults similar to children with the exception of severely impacted teeth that might not respond to orthodontic treatment because of ankylosis. This is usually detected with radiographic imaging or/and during their orthodontic traction and in such cases therapeutic procedures might be altered.
Orthodontic problems of skeletal etiology
Problems of skeletal aetiology, including asymmetries, can be corrected also in adults; however, since adults do not grow, orthodontic treatment involves collaboration with other specialists such as maxillofacial surgeons.
The orthodontic diagnosis using three-dimensional analysis of your smile and face helps us identify which jaw has the problem. Then, the required movements of jaw(s) and teeth are designed to achieve harmonious and balanced face esthetics and function. In addition, putting the skeletal tissues (upper and lower jaw) and the teeth into their ideal position, ensures excellent support to facial soft tissues such as the cheeks and the lips and reduces their sagging caused by the skeletal discrepancy and normal aging.
Achieving the harmonious “golden proportions” of the face gives an aesthetic, fresh and juvenile overall look.
In case the skeletal problem is of mild extent and patients feel OK with their face aesthetics, it is assessed if orthodontic treatment can give acceptable results solely with tooth movement. This type of “camouflage” treatment is performed only under the condition that the long-term health of bone, gums and teeth are not compromised, and face esthetics are not deteriorated.
Pre-prosthetic orthodontics and prior to dental implants
When extraction spaces are left unrestored for long periods of time, the neighboring teeth migrate into the extraction spaces, tip and rotate.
Restorations on mispositioned teeth compromise their health, the quality of the final prosthetic result (conventional prosthodontics or implants) and its long-term prognosis.
Orthodontic treatment can aid in putting the teeth in the ideal position within the bone relevant to their long axis. This would either facilitate prosthodontic treatment that uses them as abutments for fixed partial dentures or the insertion of implants.

Orthodontics for dental migration and spacing due to periodontal disease
Bone and gum loss due to periodontal disease leads to less tooth support. As a result, teeth are more vulnerable to the forces exerted on them by the cheeks, lips and tongue and subsequently they migrate, and spaces are created between them.
Orthodontics can give several solutions in recovering teeth that have moved out of their normal position due to periodontal disease.
Closure of spaces from previous extractions
Extraction spaces can be successfully closed with orthodontic treatment. This therapeutic approach reduces the need and costs for additional prosthetic restorations while it also preserves the health of your natural teeth.
Fast aesthetic orthodontics
In mild cases, when few teeth show small rotations or spaces, orthodontic treatment can be as quick as 4-6 months.
In case you have a special occasion approaching or you need a quick fix, several solutions are available and can cover aesthetic expectations.
